Saawariya (2007)

Thank : http://www.bollyfm.net/

It is the story of a shy dreamer, Raj (22 years old), who spent most of his time isolated in his apartment, creating riddles and finding answers to them, jabbering poetry or arguing with his foolish landlady Miss Disa, with whom he shared a love/hate relationship. Raj was loved by one and all, for he always brought happiness to the people around him. Destiny plans a magical tale for Raj over the next four nights of his life that shall change his entire being “Saawariya” is the story of a couple’s chance encounter and the advance of their parallel obsessions over four successive nights. An impromptu romance is initiated in a remote town in the serene beauty of picturesque Simla, a quaint hill station in Northern India that was once the summer capital of India under the British Raj, known for its lakes, mist, heavenly snowfall, rains and the tall swaying pine trees. The bright, fun-filled winding streets of the mall come alive with singing clubs, rustic folklore, dancing, love ballads, flourishing colonies of artists and weavers, and chants from the monastery- all woven in perfect harmony into a magical dream. It is here that the dreamer finds the ‘lost’ self in himself.

On arrival, Geet's family mistakes the two for lovers. Before this misconception can be cleared, Geet escapes to her boyfriend in Manali. Aditya leaves with her, confirming the suspicion that they are lovers. In Manali, Aditya feels empowered to return to Mumbai and resurrect his ailing business. Life takes a positive turn and Aditya begins to do well. One day Geet's family who think that she is with him confronts Aditya. He is shocked to learn that Geet has not returned home. He takes it upon himself to find her. Movie Previews : Dhoom 2 - Back in Action

By Judi Silva ©2006 Bollyvista.com

'Dhoom 2' once again has Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra in the lead roles with Bipasha Basu and Rimi Sen. For the first time, Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai will be playing opposite each other. There are unconfirmed speculations that John Abraham will be returning as well.

The story of 'Dhoom 2' takes place after the events that occurred in 'Dhoom'. And while the producers have unfortunately kept most of the storyline under wraps, here are some interesting details.

Hrithik Roshan will play a smooth-talking thief but not a villain as such. Rather, he's someone who unfortunately finds himself on the wrong side of the law.

In both the original 'Dhoom' and this film, Abhishek plays a policeman named Jai Dixit, who chases a gang that uses motorcycles in order to rob rich businessmen in Bombay.

There will be much more to the action sequences besides motorcycles this time though. The cast has trained long and hard to add skydiving and sand boarding into the mix.

'Dhoom 2' has a tentative release date of November 24 th.

Movie Previews : Baabul Movie Preview

By Simran Silva ©2006 Bollyvista.com

Balraj Kapoor (Amitabh Bachchan), better known as Baabul, is an unconventional man. He is a loving and devoted husband, father and father-in-law, but his sheer presence in a room makes people sit up and listen when he speaks. He will do whatever it takes, even if it means throwing traditions and superstitions out the window, in order to make one single relationship happen.

Salman Khan plays Avinash Kapoor, Balraj's son. The two are more like buddies, rather than father and son, as they race cars and play golf together. All the while, Avinash knows that he can count on his father to make help him win the girl of his dreams. And even though Avinash may have to lie to get her, he would die a thousand deaths if she were to shed a tear of unhappiness.

The matriarch of the family, Shobhna Kapoor (Hema Malini) laughs as she playfully says that both Balraj and Avinash are hopeless. Yet, her world revolves around them and would be nothing if she did not love them and was continually loved by them.

Who wouldn't fall for the silent lover, whose pent up emotions are expressed through song? Rajat Verma (John Abraham) is just that man. A heart broken in a million pieces as he loses the love of his life, and at the same time is more concerned for her happiness that that of his own. Malvika Talwar (Rani Mukerji) is the beautiful woman who is a painter, a fighter, a lover, and the object of two men's affection - Avinash and Rajat. Believing that love and marriage only happen once in a lifetime, will the choice that is made for her, be the right one?

Movie Previews : Umrao Jaan

By Simran Silva ©2006 Bollyvista.com

It's 19th Century Lucknow. A young girl named Amiran has been kidnapped and sold into the flesh trade by escaped convict Dilawar Khan, who was put into prison with the help of her father nine years prior. Given the circumstances, one could picture little Amiran's life in a kotha (Nawabi Haveli) to be a living nightmare. Yet for Amiran it became a life that she never would have imagined, coming from a lower caste and being the daughter of a sweeper.

Khanum (the high priestess of the kotha), who was given the title of the "world's perfect courtesan", christened Amiran as Umrao Jaan. There was no one else who could compare to Khanum (Shabana Azmi). Although at times her commanding words were sharp and stinging, they could also be found alluring and persuasive when they needed to be, in order for her to get what she wanted. Her insatiable hunger for money, kept her coffers overflowing and Umrao Jann with her to make sure they remained that way.

Under her tutelage, Umrao Jaan (Aishwarya Rai) not only became a refined, famous courtesan, who sang and danced for the elite Nawabs, but she also became a literary genius with her poetry, which has often times been compared with that of the famous Sahir Ludhianvi. All her attributes, along with her magnetic personality, made Umrao Jaan the pride of Lucknow. Even though, with all this fame, she still kept searching for true happiness at the end of the rainbow.
Would she find it in Nawab Sultan (Abhishek Bachchan), the refined gentleman and intense lover? As he is drawn in and hypnotized by her magnetic charm, her dance prowess and heartrending poetry makes his attraction for her abounded. Studying her carefully, he sensed that in her heart she reflected his passion. In a short time, Umrao came to understand him too and in his eyes she saw a reflection of all her desires. But would they ever be allowed to become "one", or would their attraction and a passion so intense only result in the greater pain of an unfulfilled love?

Faiz Ali (Suniel Shetty) is a much-feared dacoit. On the exterior one finds the compulsive gangster and hardened outlaw. Internally, there is a soft heart, one that beats for Umrao Jaan as well. Within her kotha, Faiz finds a sweet respite, like he has never known.

Will either Faiz or Nawab Sultan ever win Umrao Jaan for their own? Or will Khanum selfishly keep her caged in the kotha for the rest of her life. Venture to the theaters on November 3rd to find out for sure.
